What was your first guitar, and do you still have it?
My first guitar was a 1973 Hohner Les Paul. Can’t remember where I bought it, but it actually was a great guitar. My fellow band members (Midnight Fantasy) got tired of loaning me a guitar, so I finally bought this one. I wish I still had it, and if I find another one, I’ll probably buy it for sentimental reasons.
What’s your favorite guitar right now, and why?
With no doubt in my mind it is my 1958 Gibson Les Paul limited edition reissue. This guitar has more meaning to me than any guitar I own. I have been wanting this guitar my whole life, but could never afford it. When I was a young teenager my mother passed away suddenly. My whole life felt like it was coming to an end, but I was a huge fan of Led Zeppelin and started playing guitar to help with my depression. I had seen Jimmy Page playing his Les Paul and I wanted one. My daughter knew how bad I’ve been wanting one, and surprised me at Christmas with one. I named it “Noel” her middle name.
What’s your newest purchase/build?
My newest purchase, which I just received last week, is my Schecter Nikki Stringfield A-6 FRS maiden mist signature guitar. It has Sustainiac pickups, with a Floyd Rose 1500 bridge. This guitar plays amazingly, excellent action, and is a joy to play.
How often do you play?
I try to play at least every other day. I spend most of my weekends taking lessons, and practicing. Since I’ve never taken lessons before, it makes it more difficult correcting the ways I’m use to playing. Learning anything new at my age is difficult, but I’m 100 percent committed to learning the correct way.
This is so freaking cool! 🖤
